the new black bay gmt is a serious contender for back-up watch

i wish it wasn't yet another black bay, but i can't deny that the design is slick

For some reason, it is starting to look "ordinary" to me. Perhaps i need to see it in real life.

However, I am also thinking of what i have in the collection and not sure if Tudor GMT adds any collection value to it.

Among other watches that I have, i already have two Rolex GMTs (BLNR and Explorer II) and the Tudor Black Bay Noir (ETA version). I'm on deck for the new Rolex Pepsi (and see no reason why that wouldn't happen).....so not sure if the Tudor GMT really adds anything besides backup. Maybe redirect that money to a fun Panerai watch or serious Patek 5167

Agree- if you are getting the SS Pepsi then no reason to get the Tudor. I would say skip the Pepsi and get the 5167. I’m also on the list for the Pepsi but the more I read and look at it the less I am about actually wanting it given I have a BLNR and 16710.

Rolex group certainly got the GMT market sewn up right across the price spectrum this year. Certainly no coincidence that these both made an appearance at the same time. Tudor picking up the custom of many that won't be able to attain the BLRO, or those that simply don't like the BLRO.
One thing that is certain is that the residuals won't be nearly so strong on the Tudor, as will become apparent when they start appearing on eBay in a year or so as per recent releases such as the BB Bronze and Pelagos LHD. Both of which aren't making great money on the used market. That said there is no denying that the Tudor is a very nice watch who's demand may also outstrip supply.

If you already have a Black Bay and you're on the list for the Rolex GMT I pretty.mich agree with you that you don't really need the Tudor GMT too. To me the Tudor is not the working man's GMT, while the Rolex is the more business casual fancier version. As an everyday casual watch I'd prefer the Tudor, but otherwise it's hard to beat that jubilee GMT for wow factor.

I was really excited when it was first announced, but the more I think of it, the less I am wanting one. It looks too thick and it really seems to go overboard with the snowflake hands. I have no desire for the SS BLRO (not that I could get one anyways.)

The Tudor release that got me excited is the new 58.

I wouldn't buy one over a Pepsi unless money or availability was an issue, as I think they are a bit clunky compared to the refined Rolex, but I think the Tudor looks great on brown leather. Equipped that way, I could see them both in a collection: the Rolex for business casual and the Tudor for casual. Still, buy it on the bracelet.

This might be a collectible watch few years down the road. It’s not a as glamorous as the new Pepsi Rolex but if you’re your purpose is a value per buck watch, less bling, tool and functionality for everyday watch I believe this will serve it’s purpose. Eventually this watch will have a more vintage vibe due to it’s aluminum bezel. From aluminum bezel to faded bezel to ghost bezel.

Curious to see if Tudor is going to release a Coke version eventually. Would be nice to see different bezel inserts. I really enjoy that feature with my 5 digit Rolex GMT II. Over time, I could see Tudor releasing a number of different bezel combinations.

I also like that it has an all brush bracelet. It really makes the GMT feel like a tool watch. I have a Daytona C and love it, but will probably never fully embrace the polished center link bracelet.

My first response was negative because there just seems to be too many varieties of the Tudor black bay. But after seeing the pictures constantly, I have to admit that it's a nice looking watch.

Definitely more accessible and suited for daily use I'd say. The Rolex is awesome in it's own right and in a different league.

A lot more!

I see posts from people going nuts about the NEW SS BLRO and wonder what the fuss is about. I don't believe the new movt has attracted most of these crazed fanatics. So basically a Super Jubilee with a new clasp on it and now made in SS instead of WG ..which looked similar enough? Woooah.
I have a BLNR Batman and love it, but agree with you 100%.

A nice Tudor gmt May pull younger guys into Rolex at a more attractive price point. Were I not so in love with my BLNR, I’d also put this one into serious consideration. Great point, OP!

I wouldn't worry about having more than one GMT complication. I have a BLNR and am on the list at my AD for a BB GMT.

I'm in the same boat, seriously considering picking one up after all the hype has dissipated!

I ordered one as soon as my AD started taking deposits. Expected in August or thereabouts. Nice though it is to see a SS Pepsi, I don't like the bracelet and I don't need another 40mm Rolex. The Tudor will fit nicely between my Hulk and Explorer 2 Polar. The AD said they'll put me on the SS Pepsi list if I want, but I'm surprised at my lack of interest. I think the Tudor has killed it for me, which is no bad thing for my wallet. And it's a beauty. I will enjoy owning it.

Not a huge fan on the bracelet but otherwise this is an incredible piece. I wonder if a non-riveted bracelet can be swapped in? Seems likely.

I do I did.

I picked the Tudor GMT instead of a BLNR and did it in a heartbeat. Just couldn’t help not to take it. Probably it is that vintage look on the Siena strap that made it irresistible for me.

when i tried it on first, it came on the nato strap and i did not like it for two reasons:
1)the case seemed inelegantly thick
2)the rotation of the bezel feels unrefined.
what i liked about the tudor GMT was the colors of the bezel and the dial.
at my second dry-run the watch was on the steel bracelet which somewhat mitigated the issue that the case (on the nato) felt too high.
well, i gave in, ordered one and will pick it up in ten days, at the same time i shall get a rolex GMT LN, curious which watch will see more wrist time:::)))

I also noted that on the nato. But the dealer gave me one anyways that I’ve yet to try.
Here, the Tudor is getting more attention from my entourage than the Rolex.
