Are the 2014's ok, anyone tried this vintage. Is this Vineyard Rocking good..

Over all, how is the 2014 from your guys opinion. I'm sure this bottle could wait a few ?

14s are (and will be quite good) good — but they are still quite ‘green’...the last one I opened (PlumpJack Reserve) definitely needed to stay in the cellar for a few more years. (And it was opened for 3-4 hours)

I don’t open many 13s or 14s — but having said that I find 15s much more approachable now than either of those two vintages....

I’ve only had 1 2013, no 2014 or 2015. Still have plenty of 1997 up to 2012

Just my opinion (and from my palates perspective) my friend. But I try to stick to pre 2010s no later than 12s...

Yeah they never owned the vineyard but they had the deal on the fruit and the name so it's surprising those agreements weren't part of the deal.

Had this one show up today,

so I had to drink this one to make room in the chiller for it. Not a bad trade and this was very approachable out of the bottle.

Scarecrow is one of my top 5 — and Dominus...well it’s one of the BEST for sure!! Opened up a couple 09s and a 95 recently and they were AMAZING.

The 09s has so much life left in them - and the 95 was unbelievable.

Don’t overpay for the Scarecrow. Look at 06s and 09s if your looking at auctions, etc — they are spectacular and the best ‘values’.

Have you had Scarecrow at all?

I would also recommend starting off with M.Etain — or ‘Tin Man’ as it’s referred to — it will give you a stylistic look into the Scarecrow ‘realm’ initially and save $$$.

It is GREAT wine - and I never hesitate to open that - same with Maiden and Matriarch.

Haven't had them yet, planning on picking up a trio or six pack of Etain later on this fall when they release the 15's. In the meantime I'm just keeping my finger on the pulse of the auctions, seems that $450-$600 is the going rate that I'd be willing to pay for a single bottle depending on the year of course.

2007 Yalumba "The Scribbler" Cabernet Shiraz from the Barossa in South Australia.
This is a rich, full bodied red that has benefited from 11 years in my cellar and is drinking beautifully. Fortunately I have another case of this.
Drank it this afternoon/tonight while I cooked Salmon and Leek Quiche for dinner.

Flora Springs 2013 Petit Verdot - Napa Valley

Very Enjoyable...

Petit Verdot is one of the noble red varietals of Bordeaux, valued by winemakers for the deep color, strong tannins and pronounced fruit flavors it adds to traditional red wine blends. We’ve planted small blocks of the variety in our Oakville and Rutherford vineyards, and often use it to add strength and complexity to our Trilogy red wine. Bottle in small amount of the late-ripening variety on its own for a wine offered exclusively to club members and winery visitors.

An opaque, inky wine with compelling flavors of dark plum, blueberry, cherry and pomegranate and accents of licorice and worn leather. Firmly structured with hints of warm vanilla from aging in French oak barrels, this is a full-bodied wine with notable tannins that will reward aging for several years. It will pair well with grilled Rib Eye, short ribs, pasta with red sauce and hard cheeses such as Parmesan or Asiago. (And PIZZA!)

Note to self, the 2014 Freemark Abby Cabernet Sauvignon is not ready to drink for a few years unlike the 2013 is. Good but I opened it too soon.

Well. Depends on where you get it...and vintage. — you should be able to find some in the $175-$200 ish range...

Personally I wouldn’t pay a dime over $225

Would it make sense to start a "Simply Budget Friendly.....Wine Thread" on the forum? I would image there are some on the board (including myself) that just aren't willing to spend the kind of money a lot of these bottles cost.

I guess wine budget is relative, but there are several bottles in the thread under $40. Most of what I drink is in the $25-50 range.
