Datejust 41 size

I just bought the new Datejust 41 SS black face on jubilee and am I the only one dissapointed that it’s not a true 41mm watch? When I wear it it’s seems a little small. I thought it was because my last watch was a 42mm Cartier de diver on steel band. And the watch before was a jlc master compressor chronograph 42mm. Don’t get me wrong I love the watch and the jubilee band I just feel like it wears a tiny bit small. I have a 7.75 wrist. I just wish it was a 41mm watch not a 39.5.

It sounds like you’re really not happy with it. Keep it for a few months and if you still feel that way, sell it and move on

It’s a dressier watch. Any bigger and it loses that effect, regardless of wrist size.

The 0.5 mm isn't going to make a difference. Just give it some quality wrist time and you should adjust to it fairly quickly. I bought my 36mm Datejust after wearing my GMTIIc daily for 2 years and the Datejust felt tiny at first but after wearing it for a couple of days it felt just right.

I was thinking the same thing. I have a DJII and tried on a DJ 41 and it felt small to me, too. Gorgeous watch, though.

Yes I did try it on and I felt it was a little small. But I thought maybe it was because I was used to wearing 2 bigger watches and they wear bigger then the 42mm size they state because of the pusher and crown. Anyways I hate scratches more then anything so when I saw the jubilee I was willing to make that sacrifice in size. My wife has had hers for 3 years now and it still looks great. The scratches are unnoticeable unless you are really looking. Anyways I love the watch. Just wish it was a little bigger. But I’m willing to live with it being a 39.5mm watch because it looks brand new even after wearing it for a month. My other watches with pcls look scratched in just a few days.

It’s 1.5mm but yes I agree with you. Just takes time to adjust I do love it though. I wish I could upload a picture to kind of show you my point. I have large wrist and a muscular forearm. So watches tend to look a little smaller on me then normal.

I did try it on. The reason I bought it was the jubilee bracelet. The one thing I hate the most is scratches. My wife has one for 3 year and it still looks great. You have to really look for the scratches. I knew it fit smaller but in my mind it was because I owned 2 lager wearing 42mm watches with big pusher or crowns. Then I read on the forums it wasn’t just my imagination but the watch is smaller then 41mm. While not a deal breaker I just wish the watch was a true 41mm. Why not just call it the datejust 40? That would have made more people happy and sold Better imo even though I’m sure they are selling quite nicely.

Got to have the jubilee bracelet. If the datejusr 2 had that option you are correct I probably would have went that route. But the jubilee imo is worth the size sacrifice.

Yeah, I think that you just have to get used to it. I had been wearing a DSSD for years that anything after that felt small. After a while though, I adjusted back closer to normalcy and now my 40mm and 42mm watches no longer feel outlandishly small now. Maybe give it some time, and then unload it if it still doesn't feel right. Good luck.

I think my 41 is the bees knees. Fit great with no links removed with a 8 inch wrist.

Doesn’t look too small to me but I am acoustomed to 39-42.

Nope really wouldn’t want this specific watch bigger... any larger it looked like I belong in the Jersey shore

I was looking at an Oyster Perpetual 39 initially, but I kept thinking it was too small. When I tried on the DJ41, it was game over. IMO it's the perfect size for a Rolex. I own bigger watches as well, but the DJ41 just works, and works exceedingly well.

I have a 7" wrist. I feel the current DJ41 is to big and they should of made it a DJ40 like the DD40. The DD40 is about 38.5mm. The 36mm is a classic reference that should be appreciated as such and I am pleased Rolex have not discontinued it. However, the new DJ I can appreciate needs to be bigger but even not at the size of DJ41 it detracts from the original spirit of the watch.

IT IS ALL SUBJECTIVE. All our opinions are different.It is better not to consider other peoples opinions and base your opinions on your thoughts that are not influenced by others or fashion. Honestly, give it a good 6 months to a year to allow feelings settle then you will be sure of what you want. If your still not happy flip it and get a DJ2. The DJ2 is a true 41mm with a vertically taller case and thicker case.

Look at what I have. You need to be very sure of what you want to have a watch like this.

The DJ41, DD40 and the Daytona are all on the small side for me. I wore a YG Daytona for a decade and loved the watch and did not think about the size. Then I went with the DD II and have not been able to go back to the Daytona due to size. If I wore it, I would get used to it but what is the point if an option such as the DJ II is there. I understand about the bracelet but the size of the watch is more important to me.

Should have asked ahead of time - would have suggested you get the DJII, true 41 mm diameter. Would work better for your wrist size IMO

I, like you, have a larger wrist ~7.5, and have always preferred bigger dial watches.
For Rolex, my DJ41 does not feel small. As a practical matter, most of the time the watch is partially covered with a sleeve, so it's hardly on full display. Compared to the Sky (42mm) or Hulk (40mm), it's the in-between size of the 3 mentioned. My opinion, actually, is that the Hulk is the one that truly feels the smallest, although worn the most...
A few years ago I had both the black and white dial Daytonas (pre ceramic). Both definitely too small for my taste, as I found it very difficult to read the dials. (particularly the black dial one). In recent months, I did try on the new Daytona, and although the illusion is a slightly larger watch because of the bezel, it was still too small for my preference.

I'm also a Panerai collector...and like most watch collectors, have pieces of different brands. At 6', 200, big frame, the 44-47mm Luminors and Radiomirs work well for me. I also wear a 47mm Hublot Big Bang.

In over 45 years of collecting/trading, I have come to enjoy variety, switching up straps and horrifying other collectors when they find out that I actually wore my submariner in the water.

If it helps, the DJ41 is 39.84mm across the case, measured from the centre side of the case, as it's slightly fatter at this point than at the front or rear...



Measured with protective film in place which is 0.08mm thick either side of case.
40.00 - 0.16mm = 39.84mm...



Love it! Still keeping PERFECT time (+/- Zero seconds) after eight months daily wear.
