Explorer 1 Size and Engraving
Just got my first new Rolex; I have a datejust from my father that’s about 40 years old.
I went back and forth a lot on the size with the previous 36mm versions, as I’m not a big fan of big flashy watches. Glad I got the 39mm version (mk2) though. I have a 6.75” flattish wrist, and the watch doesn’t seem big at all. Hope this can help those trying to decide beteeen the two sizes. Now onto engraving… maybe I’m being anal, but I’m concerned engraving the caseback (this watch is a wedding gift from my lovely fiance) will collect dirt and grime, as opposed to a smooth surface. For those of you that have engraved casebacks, do you regret it? Is it difficult to keep clean? |

Yes, you're being anal, just engrave it. The engraving won't collect anymore crud than the links of the bracelet will. As often as you want just wash it with a soft bristle toothbrush and some warm soapy water.

Congrats on the watch and the pending nuptials. Commit to your fiancé and get that baby engraved!

Don't engrave it, unless you have problems remembering her name or birthday or something like that.
Awesome watch, great choice. |
