The 2006 Grand Vin Chateau Latour was drinking exceptionally well when I was at the Chateau last month, as well as the 2012 Les Forts de Latour. The Pauillac de Latour is a favorite of my inbetweens when I want wine but don't want to open first wines, its a great value. Fun Fact: Did you know Chateau Latour makes a 4th wine? Dubbed "the wine of the worker", and given to the team at Chateau Latour, their allowance is up to 18 bottles a month. It is not for sale nor marked with any markings of Chateau Latour, I attempted to persuade a worker to let me buy a bottle, but was unsuccessful in finding someone with a bottle on hand, although I did see the bottle in the packing room. |

2015 Stag's Leap "The Investor" tonight. Nothing but pure oak barrel and alcohol until magically at three decanted hours some life to it. All of a sudden it's drinkable and starts off pleasantly unwinding some cherry and currant into the grape itself. Still finishing off with a bit of alcohol on the end but at this price point it's perfectly fine. Several more aging away, probably won't open another one until next vintage, just to get a baseline on that year.

I opened a 14 last summer with some friends - and remember it being quite similar, very tannic, but it opened up nicely after a while. Quite interesting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Dinner with some great friends this evening - I let the wives go pick the wine from the cellar...I was REALLY surprised that nothing really old...and French made it upstairs....anyway — this is what’s on the menu this evening — with steaks of course!!
Have a great weekend all!!! ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Haha!! Well...I figured they’d be looking for birth year stuff...or dusty bottles...but I’m pretty good about not letting dust build up for this reason!!! Look forward to sharing a glass or bottle or three with you one of these days my friend! ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Tonight's selection from Prisoner Wine Co. This one's called "Deranged". It tastes similar to The Prisoner however I feel that it is a bit more wound up with a less fruity approach. At double the price point though I think this one will be a one off for me. The bottle looked nice though, I chilled it long enough to be able to leave the hand print. I think it made it look better lol.

Just awesome Roger !
That bottle of Alexander 97 Silver Oak when I had it in 2001 or 02/03, I forget, was the best bottle I ever had. It was amazing and must've been the exact hour to open it cause almost nothing until this year has tasted better. It's very different today but still good ![]()

Thanks my friend!!! ![]() ![]() The wife and I are getting ready for our annual ‘Memorial Day wine weekend’ (which is more like 5 days...lol... with some great friends of ours - and I have been putting together about a case / case and a half ‘list’ to pull from the cellar. Planning on trying some younger vintages to see where they are of some of the wines we’ve been opening lately. More to come!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It was very similar to Prisoner but not as sweet. Took four hours in the decanter to come around. With so many other options out there I probably won't repeat this one.

Interesting. I’ve always found the Prisoner a little too sweet for my palate — have you had Mercury Head? (Orin Swift’s 100% Cabernet) SUPER good. I think the first one we had was an 05. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Going with something reliable tonight, slightly chilled and decanted 4 hours it's tasting a little too good at the moment.

![]() We enjoyed it, I have five or so more of it. I’ve had plenty of Oregon Pinot’s, but never this one. When the weather warms up my wife usually gravitates to pinots by the glass when we’re out, I’ll need to do a better job of stocking some WV bottles ![]()
