How does Rolex expect to fit their SkyD watches to buyers at the AD if they do not have a supply of these odd size links?

A few years ago, I needed a link for my getting-too-tight DD, but I had an awful time trying to get one. My AD was really no help, so I turned to the forum, and the first I found didn't fit, so I sent it back, and then I finally found one from another great seller, and I couldn't have been happier.

Fast forward to today, and my wrist seems to have shrunk back again to where I'm close to taking the link off. It's good to have the link, and obviously it's easier going smaller when you have the links than bigger when you don't, but it took me months to finally source the right link, so I understand the OP's pain, loosely.

Exactly my point! It is the most basic essential to sell
A watch.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, IWC wouldn't sell me an extra bracelet link for my 3777 without sending the watch in for a complete service...which at that point their qualified technicians would add a link.

The IWC bracelet is among the easiest to adjust. It's made to be adjusted by the consumer, but they would have none of that logic...none. Full service for a link or hit the bricks. I got one elsewhere after a bit of a hunt...

I've heard they'd sell them to you but only if you bundled the purchase with some gold links.

THIS!

I put a micro adjust on my Diver 300 and it went from a frustrating watch to wear to one of my favorites.

I went to my Rolex AD and asked them to take out a permanent link on my sub bracelet and the CW21 said I didn't know what I was doing and wouldn't. Never mind that my explorer fits great but is a 6 digit reference and so has an extra removeable link.

Why does Rolex care what bracelet goes with which watch? Let the customer choose what makes them happy. And for heavens sakes if you needed a $100 link to wear a $13,000 watch Rolex should be stumbling over themselves to make it happen.

Haha came here to say exactly this!

Also there was a post a while ago of someone putting a single yellow gold oyster link on his SS Sub, looked awesome! :)

I really sold my half link cheap. I think I sold it for 30 shipped to Europe.

I would’ve thought a TRF member would help each other out

I think its watch fatigue in general across the hot brands. People are tired of the lists and hassles and simply not being able to have what they want within a reasonable time. All this angst should work to restore more equilibrium to the market.

2 years ago when you posted this was basically when the bundling rumors were beginning. These days this post might actually be legit

Rolex has “too many customers” hence all of the waitlists etc. Maybe the new Rolex strategy is to piss enough existing customers off...so they will go elsewhere PP, AP, blah blah.... their way of getting the current waitlists down....and then more Rolex SS available.....anything is possible at this point .

This is a stupid situation but it does crop up from time to time.

My car was off the road for six months because a run of the mill part was on back order. But I did get a loan car.

Infuriating but not unheard of. Glad to hear you have it sorted.

I thought the SD links were interchangeable (although the centre sections need polishing)? Or maybe it's just the SD half link that's compatible with the Sky Dweller. Or maybe it's the SDDS. Anyway, one of the two.

Great watch BTW.

I needed a link for my 116713 last year. It took my AD roughly 3 months to get the link for me. $228 and three months later - It was annoying to say the least.
