1976 Mickey

After seeing an old Mickey Mouse watch here, I remembered I had one around in my treasure chest.
There is a story behind this watch.
Growing up, with 3 sisters, our family didn't have any excess items. We had the necessities, but not much more. My mom scrimped & saved as she wanted to take me & my younger sister to Disneyland, before we "got too old'
By 1976, she had saved enough to take the two of us. I was 13, but I remember this trip really well. It was over the 4th of July weekend for the USA's 200 celebration.
My one momento from the trip was, a mechanical Mickey Mouse watch. I wore this thing for a long long time. Them put it away for safe keeping.
Well fast forward 30 years. My mom recently passed away, and we are taking my daughter to Disneyland next week. She too is 13, but we have been a few times before.
I found my old watch, and wound it up. It started ticking right away. I grabbeb my magnifying glass to check it out. I took two pictures, the lighting is not the best and the plexi is well used, but if you look closely, it does say "SWISS MADE" on the dial.
Any of our resident experts now anything about a watch like this?

Thanks for looking.

Dont know a lot about the Mickey Mouse watches but early models from Timex Ingersoll's are now getting collectible. And quite a few people now
collect "character watches". Some of the very early 30s -40s are sort after
but most that turn up are from 60s 70s,and modern reproductions.Bradley
made quite a few wrist and pocket watch. But they were not made in huge numbers don't think they will ever break any price records. But anything vintage associated with Walt Disney will be collectible, and have never seen another like the one I have.

That's a great watch and story John. It's great that you have fond memories and something to remember your trip by.

Great story John!

Any chance we can get a non-blurry pic of the dial?

Very cool story. If I were you, I'd take it in for a service, clean up, new strap and present it to your daughter. Make it a tradition.

That was my very same thought, John, as I was reading that story. Absolutely, LM, hand it down through the generations.

Great minds think alike, Ed. I just thought since John's daughter is already into watches, she could really appreciate it while cementing that special father-daughter bond.
