Getting a kinetic movement going.

My kinetic movement watch is stopped. If I wear it and shake it, the second hand skips around, but I can’t get it to run consistently. Any magic here? Watch winder? Does light help? Maybe it’s broken?

Keep shaking it???

Kinetic Seikos don’t need light as far as I recall.

How old is it?

It is a year and a half old. I believe Seiko’s service center is 45 minutes north of me and a Seiko outlet 30 minutes away. I could get it checked out.

I use this guy to charge. Place the watch head vertically (6 or 12 down) and it will charge. :)

Worst case, you need to replace the capacitor.

But do try to have it charged.

Happened to me recently.

Already had a capacitor ordered. Then technician said, he will try to charge. After a few hours, back to normal.

This happens when not used regularly.

It’s a tooth brush charger HX9100... I did't get the cup and place the watch directly onto the charger:

I happened to have the recommended tooth brush charger. I charged the watch overnight and it appears to be running. Thank you very much, you saved me a trip to Seiko! For what period of time do you charge it?

If your watch has been doing 2-sec skip, it may take 5 days to get to 30-sec full charge.
please be reminded that the watch does get warm, and my advice would be placing it at somewhere well ventilated.
