A low key incoming

A while back I sold a guitar amp to a gentleman and somehow we started chatting about watches. A few months later he contacts me and asks whether I am interested in buying a watch he shared with me during our earlier conversation. I couldn't pass on it, so here it is.

A Tudor 79090 from around '95. It has seen some honest wear, but I believe it is unpolished. Coming from 6 digit ceramic sport watches, this is such a different feel. I love the top hat plexi crystal, the Non-ratchet bezel is a first for me and the bracelet while rattly is really comfortable. So what I guess I am saying is I am really enjoying it :D

Don’t let the bracelet rattle fool you, they are every bit as strong as the current bracelets. That’s back when they built them for function, as they were lighter. The new brackets feel heavier but add no functional value only perceived value.

Thanks for sharing in my excitement, gents

The tritium is completely dead, so the dial is original I would assume with service hands (they still glow).

A very generous friend has given me a 6251H Jubilee bracelet, which I want to try on the Tudor.I just need to source some end links for the bracelet first. It was sparked by this photo another friend sent me...

I never knew Tudors came with Mercedes hour hands. The only thing I don’t like about Tudors is the diamond hour hand. Love the extra coronets too.

What era where the Mercedes hands common? 80s and 90s. How much would you have to pay to pick one up?

These were made from 1989-1999 and came in black and blue. Around 1995 they switched from the plexi crystal to a sapphire crystal.Judging by the serial number, mine was one of the last plexi glass models.

On Chrono24 they are listed for anything from $3500-$7000.

Crikey ! that is absolutely lovely, fantastic dial and the folded link bracelet... That has to be, by far, the coolest watch I've seen posted here in quite some while
