New sub 116610LN - stopped
Hi All
Happy New year to everyone. This is my first post and the reason I'm here is to look for some advice on a warranty concern. I bought a Submariner in Italy in September (brand new) I noticed a few days ago it was running slow and now it has stopped completely. Has anyone had similar concerns with this watch or am I just unlucky? I'm heading to my local authorised dealer tomorrow , what do you think my options will be ? Robert |

I had a dssd Jc that I bought dec 2017 and it died a month after and power reserve went down to like 2-3 hours. I sent it back to RSC and they returned after a few weeks with details regarding some greasing issue

Hi and welcome. Sorry to hear that your new Sub is not working, though Rolex has a stellar reputation on craftsmanship it happens, of course I am assuming like Padi mentioned you winded the watch and have been wearing it. I think since you bought it brand new and is under warranty the local ad will send it to a Rolex Service Center and resolve the problem, I would think if they cant resolve it which they should, will probably replace movement or provide you a new one. Though you might be without a watch for a few weeks unfortunately. Hope this helps.

As per the Submariner Manual
WEARING THE WATCH FOR THE FIRST TIME Before being worn for the first time, or if it has stopped, a Rolex watch must be wound manually in order to function correctly and precisely. To wind the watch manually, unscrew the winding crown completely, then turn it several times clockwise. (Turning in the other direction has no effect.) A minimum of 25 turns is required for adequate partial winding. The watch will then be wound automatically as long as it is worn on the wrist. Carefully screw the crown back down against the case to ensure waterproofness. |

You might need a new battery. Contact Rolex to find out which specific battery you need.

It is simple really. You send it to a Rolex service center. Their experts will manipulate the crown in such a way that charges the watch.

Agree. As to the OP, do try to wind the watch. If it still fails, then take it to a AD in your area, they should be able to help you. I had 116710 LN that displayed the same issues as your Sub. It was simply a lubrication issue inside. Couple of minutes with a competent watchmaker and the problem was resolved. Best of luck.

OP stated he bought a new watch in Italy. Was it from an AD or 3rd party?
If a new piece bought from a non AD, it could be a Lolex. |

I’ve heard that Rolex and Customs have installed a chip causing watches to slow down and eventually stop if you do not pay taxes. Oh, and I have also heard that Rolex is about to install a similar chip which could sense if watch sold by grey......

As mentioned by Peter, wind the watch and wear it for few days before wasting your time running to AD. Please keep us informed of the outcome, hopefully it was only low power reserve.

Plus when you think about it, he's probably propping up the Italian economy with that purchase! (if you're not aware, they are pretty close to financial ruin) |
