This will ruffle some feathers.. Invicta

Out of all the Invicta pro divers and speedway models which one looks most like a Rolex or one you have thought was a Rolex from far away.
I am in no way an Invicta fan just a curious question.
I own one from years ago that was a gift and is long discontinued

Last week end at the Daytona 500 I was eyeing a two-tone Daytona but low and behold it was a speedway

I'd sooner draw a sub on my wrist with a sharpie than wear that.

I think every model is nowhere near a Rolex. That being said, if you have a $200 budget, it’s a great option.

Everyone knows what Invicta is, why would this ruffle anything?

They make relatively cheap watches (not an issue). What generally ruffles feathers is their blatant copying of popular models from other brands (like the green sub pictured above).
Also, many of their designs that aren't ripoffs are generally pretty garish for my taste (fake gold being an example).

I constantly see two-tone Invictas and they require a few seconds longer to inspect but they always leave me with the same feeling.

Disappointment.

There are too many Respectable Seikos in the same price range for me to ever seriously consider any invicta.

I don't knock anyone for wearing what they like, but I would never wear an Invicta because all they seem to do is blatantly copy every popular model from other manufacturers. They have clones for every Rolex model. It's embarrassing.

Have somewhat the same issue with Steinhart despite their watches actually being well made.

I'll happily wear a $14 Casio over any Invicta any day. There are so many better options for whatever Invicta charges for these abominations.

they are not copying anything trademarked.... facial tissues are not Kleenex. They look similar

Adhesive bandages and band-aids are not the same either... fruity o's and fruit loops. the list goes on and on. Most of that stuff people buy because its cheaper and its a positive. If you don't care about the quality difference then paying less for something similar is normal behavior

What i do find weird is the fact people get mad when someone doesn't care about the difference, they just want a nice looking watch, but they should be forced to spend 9K anyway. What someone else wears should in no way devalue what you choose to wear.

But didn't Rolex originally copy the sub?

how else do you make a round watch, with a dive bezel that rotates? its not like there is a lot of options.

If you want to make a dive watch its going to look similar to the other 1000 dive watches various brands also make.

same as with time only dress watches on a leather strap. How many brands make those? most of them and they look similar.

Again why does this "ruffle feathers?"

Who cares what they do except perhaps Rolex lawyers?

Those who actually know, understand and like watches are not the least bit concerned much less "ruffled".

I am a professional drummer, and made the mistake of wearing my 16613 during a particularly strenuous show, which resulted in a pricey mainspring repair. A friend gave me an Invicta "Pro Diver", which is a decent quality, automatic watch with a rubber bracelet. This is now my gig watch, and has held up beautifully for 3 years as such. It looks not at all like any Rolex, and I like it fine for what it is.

To me, this has nothing to do with the legal statutes or the price difference. Nor does it have anything to do with the inherent quality difference.

For me, I absolutely have a distaste for companies that blatantly copy popular/successful designs. I find it lazy at best.

I'm not asking for every company to be revolutionary in their designs. I don't care if a company takes inspiration from another company. But to completely copy the entire design? No.

I also have this opinion against some of R.W. Smith's designs, as they mimick Breguet a little too much for my taste. Mind you, R.W. Smith's watches are worth more than Breguet's. I don't even own a Breguet. But...it still irks me.

Their Bluesy looks very close to a Rolex IMHO.

Well the point just was to see what model looks most like a Rolex or has fooled people.
Just a fun thread
