Rolex coffin old vs new.....

So I purchased a 126711CHNR. Love the watch!!!!! While with the AD I asked for the coffin and some magazines. He gave me the coffin that came with the watch and a few more. I like to use these when traveling. I noticed the coffin that come with the new watch has a rectangular hole in this one. I have some older coffins that don’t have the hole. Just wondering why the hole now. I liked the older ones without the hole because nothing can get in there and damage the watch. Also the older had a thin piece of foam to protect the bracelet from the plastic I guess.

I guess it makes it easier to use a finger to push the watch/insert out from beneath.

(Just a guess.)

Kind regards,
Oliver

Hmm. I thought it always had the rectangular hole.

New one's worth double on the grey market.

2 year waitlist on the new coffins, but only if you're local.

It's called a ECU box. A coffin is a box for dead people...

I believe is for the green tag so the serial number is easier to see.

The rectangular cut-out is on the bracelet side (bottom) of the ECU Box (“coffin”) where the chronometer tag is wrapped around a new watch. My chronometer tag was Red, so pre-July 2015. The dial side (top) of the coffin is still sealed. Mine also came with the thin piece of foam the OP’s seems to be missing.

OP must have an incomplete coffin! :)

New ones are worth way more. Much harder to come by. The ADs are really hesitant to part with the new coffins.

That’s where the white tag slides into when it is shipped to the AD from the factory so they can scan it and take it into inventory.

It’s called a casket, coffins are for dead people. Pretty soon these will be as expensive as the watches themselves because they are not given out anymore.

I have received one with every watch I have bought. The Deepsea blue casket is huge compared to the others.

Did your AD keep the white tag that slides into the container?

is it accurate that there are different size coffins for each watch? or is it s, m, l? if they are not all one size, getting the right one may be too much climb for too little slide
