State of play in Australia
In Australia some AD's aren't even taking an expression of interest for a Datejust 41 in steel, on jubilee with fluted bezel ... The AD's I've been too recently have sometimes fewer than 10 watches on display ... Never sports and not even DJ41.. how are they paying rent in some of these high end shopping centres?
Australia seems to be a baron land for Rolex .. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

How are they paying rent? The fact that they are selling nearly 100% of their watches instantly upon arrival - before they even hit the display - would suggest they aren't having any problems paying rent...

I put an EOI at both Brisbane AD's, but since getting my OP 36, not really interested in waiting for the Sub-date, do you guys think I should just ring them and cancel to allow someone else the opportunity or let nature run it's course as it will likely never happen that I will get a call anyway?
Serious question, as this niggling at the back of my mind is tellimg me I should just forget about it. |

Australia is one of the cheapest places in the world to buy Rolex at MSRP due to the AUD taking a dive so I reckon Rolex don't send as many watches here as they make less $

I'm assuming there's no distribution arm in place, that currency plays no part and only hurts the retailer (if they buy direct from Rolex in Swiss Franc and have to then sell in AUD) because Rolex S.A. would still be getting the same Swiss Franc amount as before. |

As long as it is sold to the locals ,its fine .High demand .
However,if it is sold to grey's and their flipper mates ..we have a problem. |

its a 12 month wait for me to get the 116519ln-0025 and even longer for a TT CHNR, via an AD.
I dont mind waiting as I need to accrue some funds but a bit miffed its over 12 months for a CHNR |

SO different to 2 years ago when I got my DJ41 in a Sydney AD. It's no fun to go shopping anymore if you can't look at and try on the watches you really want.
I have ["had" I guess is the way to put it now] a great relationship with that AD but it counts for zilch now with the way Rolexes are being marketed currently. I won't even bother going back into that shop just to look at empty Rolex display cases where they used to be MANY things of beauty. I have been in many overseas ADs since then and it's much the same. They've taken the fun out of the AD experience! |

I've been trying to get a Sub for 18 months now, with regular visits. A few months ago, they still had a Rhodium YM which I almost caved and got, but passed as I want Glidelock.
I bought a Pelagos to fill the hole, I am not going to beg to buy a watch. Lets hope for a market crash. |

As I've said on a couple other threads.......
RRP is now the old wholesale price and the Grey price is the new retail. Sad but true. |

Tell them you’re a grey dealer and you’ll bung them $5k cash, see how long it’ll take to get one. Then when you turn up and pay show them the video you took of the initial conversation that you’ll send Rolex and walk out with one at rrp.

I can't believe you all still think that the beloved AD is either not getting the stock or is selling to the people at the top of the list. Get real!!! They all have arrangements with grey dealers either overseas or interstate. They sell to them at agreed prices above MRP. Everyone is happy. They make a killing and the grey market get the stock. What the grey doesn't want goes in the window. It's happening the world over but no-one wants to believe that people dealing in luxury brands can be so corrupt.

Actually I did :)
I’ve never considered Tudor before, and haven’t been following their availability. Wrongly assumed they would be readily available at RSC. They said 6 to 12 month wait on the BB58 I was hoping to inspect one and try it on Of course I had to ask about Rolex SS sports models they have out the back given I purchased a Sub C from them a few years back. Got the standard response.... Last edited by Scoobs; 2 July 2019 at 06:18 PM.. Reason: Added |

Stock for SS sports in Australia has been impossible for at least 4 years.
Before I bought my Batman I spoke with an AD in Sydney and he said it would be at least a 6 month wait and didn’t even offer to put me on a list - it was really rude. I found it so offensive I immediately called a grey dealer in Hong Kong that I had bought a lot of Jewellry from and had my Batman in a week! Since that time I’ve purchased for myself, family and friends the following from the HK grey dealer: - Another Batman for a friend - Hulk for my brother - Sub No Date for my brother in law - Sub date for a friend - Two tone sub for a friend - Reverso duo for myself - Cartier Drive for a friend - Panerai for a friend - Dj41 for a friend All sent in directly to me, no travel. Forget dealers in Australia, they are a total joke.

Not really. I told my AD only a month ago that I was after a sub no date. A few days ago, ie about 4 weeks later he sent me a sms. The sub 114060 was waitingbfor me, with all stickers... And I am not an overseas tourist or a big spender either. Neither a flipper. Collins St, Melbourne. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

This is mostly definitely not the experience of myself or my friends / family. How many watches have you purchased before and how many are PM?
