Relumed 5513

In my early 20’s I really wanted a vintage sub but was obviously limited financially. I found a 5513 matte dial meters first that had been re-lumed that I could afford because of the relume. I’ve had it almost a decade now and with early 5513’s reaching $10kusd territory I was wondering what someone might value my re-lumed watch knowing it would be significantly less than that. I took it to both a reputable vintage dealer and a local AD that has some vintage pieces. Both said that because of the relume they had no interest in it at all because it was unsellable. Does a good relume really make a vintage watch unsellable?

You'll need to post photos to get meaningful responses. Not all re-lumes are equal.

Every watch has its price, but some watches are best sold on eBay. A dealer has certain standards for his stock, and may not want to introduce watches with certain flaws into his inventory.

@JShickman
The vintage watch dealer said your meters first 5513 was unsellable because of the re-lume?
Hmmm, I really want to see pics of this watch!

Relumes are horrible for resale no matter how well done,Collectors draw a line in the Sand on this issue.And a nice all original early 5513 Meters First is far more than 10K Today.

I'd add not all things listed as relumed are relumed.

The lume from 66-68 is a little special, very green, and still glows.
