Now would be a good time for everyone to leave it be.

And no, I don’t get it, partially because of your inabity to write a coherent sentence “Stating again...special order watch.” So we can agree that you are of no help to me |

AD lied to you. I'd talk to the head honcho at the AD. All said I would consider switching ADs.
However, it could have been avoided by shopping around to try and find it in stock. Forget about the amount of money spent in the watch. With any watch this is bad. Green dials are hot. They probably never had a chance to get the watch from rolex. The issue is when you have an AD special order there is no guarantee to begin with. Believe it or not.

Trying to empathize with you Brad and what would really frustrate me about being in your situation is not being able to keep my word when I promised my loved one something but couldn’t deliver because the actual timeline wasn’t communicated to me. Sounds like you have already decided to continue to wait. Well hopefully after a couple more call weeks you’ll get that phone call, preferably before 2019 ends. You do have the 2019 Christmas gift in hand already right??

I would get the refund and go Patek all the way talking that kind of money.

I’d consider getting the refund.. Maybe consider the Datejust 36mm 126233 with the Olive Green Dial. That is one seriously good looking timepiece that should be quicker to get and save you some $$$.

Brad, tell your AD in no uncertain terms you are NOT in the business of making interest-free unsecured loans.

GsurgBM, I get your frustrated. But, did they guarantee the watch? Or did they say, due to it’s uniqueness, it was a custom order that would take months to be received. At a certain point, maybe month 5 or 6, you should’ve had a heart to heart talk with the AD. I mean, it’s your $40k. Why weren’t you in there fully understanding the situation? At this point, take ownership for your role in this and get a refund. Let it go, man. Life’s too short.

Don’t be mistaken that I’m somehow walking around crazy mad about all this lol. Got way too many good things and blessings for that. Just a small source of frustration and disappointment. If it’s the worst the worst thing that happens today I’m lucky. God is good. However, hard for me to agree that I didn’t “fully understand the situation “. And I’m not sure what “my role in this” is. I told rolex AD what I wanted. Asked if he could get it. They told me they could get it within 3 to 6 months (after talking to the rep) with a paid in full order. So I paid them. And they haven’t lived up to their end of the bargain. That sums it up i guess. Had i thought they would not live up to their end of the bargain, I would not have paid them obviously. And I understand that the delays sometimes happen, that’s why it’s been eight months before I really said anything about it. I’ll probably wait a while longer, in hopes that I get lucky and they go ahead and get it. If not, I can always get my money back and go a different route. Just a little sad to me that a respected company like Rolex would take your money, make you wait for that long, and despite their word, really be unable to deliver. Had they told me at the beginning, yes we can order it, but it might be 1 to 2 years before it comes in, this would not be an issue with me at all. But promising 3 to 6 months after taking full payment, stringing me along with “just two more weeks” several times, then switching to “we have no idea” seems sketchy to me. That’s all. While I empathize, you know too little of the facts. The Ad was giving you the best information they had, the Rolex rep may have been passing on the best he had and other people up the supply chain may all have been acting in good faith planning a run of these dials within a six month timeframe, but maybe on this high risk dial the yield wasn’t big enough for all the orders.
Whilst it’s irritating, buy your wife something nice in the meantime and keep the order in.

All good thoughts. For sure. I guess I was naïve and did not realize it was a “high risk” dial. No one ever mentioned to me that these were hard to get, hard to make or would otherwise be an issue. All they said was “sure we can get it in 3 to 6 months.” Apparently I found out today about these style being “risky” but at least I learned something. That’s s great thing a out this place. Always something to learn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree with this exactly. They should give you the refund and still keep trying to obtain this for you. You definitely have shown to be the perfect type of buyer Rolex is looking for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Frustrated.
Is there a huge markup on this watch in the grey market? Does anyone have it?

Jean-Frederic Dufour
Chief Executive Officer, Rolex Group Francois Dussaud 3-5-7, 1227 Genève, Switzerland The CEO will be well apprised of the reasons for wide-spread shortages. Show him a picture of the Patek, or Cartier, or whatever you decide if you get a substitute. There are all kinds of theories as to whether Rolex is hoarding inventory to push up prices, image and chase Patek to the top of the desirability list. But your story is unbelievable. It's just a watch. You should have it by now. |

I’d get a refund and let them know if they are able to source one that your still interested. Certain if they can, they will and no bs at that time. Sucks you and your wife had to go through this.

I’d go refund just on principle alone. Wouldn’t want to set the precedent for future orders that this is acceptable.
If your wife likes Patek then great. It’s possible she doesn’t though. With the kind of cash you’re spending I’d be inclined to find a jeweler who sells Pateks.

Brad,
Interesting story and I'm sorry you haven't been able to get what you desired out of this entire situation (yet). Keep up the good attitude and continue to turn it over to him. It'll work out if it's meant to be! Best of luck and I hope you got something EXTRA special in mind for this Christmas! Wear em all in great health! Subscribed! |
