I can’t hear you...this comment is useless without pictures...

To be fair...RM’s look big on everyone’s wrist...
Btw don’t forget about the 11

I can arrange free food for you, but only if you bring that gorgeous RM.

You should have hodinkee do an article on how a 9 yr old amassed the sickest watch collection ever.
Leave out the eating dogs part though

Somewhat relevant to this topic - I think HK is a good place to buy your popular aqualus and SS rolex now (or give it another 1 to 3 months). The mainlanders have decreased spending significantly and HK has too many ADs without the support of the chinese Renminbi.

The time is now, if you regularly visit HK that is.

Just because the market tanks and goes kaboom and everyone becomes poor with no access to immediate cash...It still won't change Patek's supply. You may just get a few more people who will skip the 5711/1A when the AD calls up, but there's sure as heck many on that list who will be able to afford it and say yes. In case of the mentioned scenario a small correction would happen on first-hand piece and a little bigger correction on second hand pieces.
You think Stern will flood the market and tell ADs they can now offer 10,20,30% discount on Nauts and Aquas? That's laughable.

Well said. Looking at my watch purchases, the only ones to really gain value are a 16710, 5167, and the first Omega Speedy Tuesday. Patek 5227: biggest loss. IWC: loss. Lange: flat. Panerai: loss. Maybe it is the curse of Richemont.

I like the Feedback on Hodinkee that said that Patek can use the steel watches as a motivator to sell its slower selling gold and dressy pieces. “Buying the relationship.” Reminds me of Ferrari a bit...not that I have one.

Retained value on a watch is totally determined by demand. Most are the conglomerate companies' watches are not collected by anyone as such loss substantial value in the aftermarket. There is little or no intrinsic value in a used watch. Cost of goods and manufacture on a watch is a very small amount compared to its wholesale cost to ADs. Wasn't it Richemond that took back millions of dollars of unsold new watches from dealers and simply destroyed them savaging what they could for parts. So much for prized possessions

Doubt anyone would skip the AD call for 5711, it's the secondary grey market where people are now willing to pay less of a premium to retail

@Fat_ninja, I've got to hand it to you, you're a lucky man indeed, having the means to fund an RM and 5711 on your young daughter's wrist, and doing it with humor and lightheartedness, a sincere tip of the hat to you and yours.

Or in the inimitable wisdom of Rocky Balboa: "Do you like having a good time? Then you need a good watch!" Cheers :-).

A few months ago you probably could have been close if you sold the 5711 yourself.

I was very close to pulling the trigger today on a 5170P but it meant I’d have to sell some stuff I’m not ready to sell.
