Fabulous work OP.
It’s like looking through a Rolex display in Natural History Museum. I’m absolutely fascinated by those dials and makes me appreciate my DJ Black MOP dial even more. |

Very cool compilation. This post taught me that I’m not a fan of the stone dials. Except maybe onyx or jasper.

I assume this is just another example of ammonite, but it looks different enough from the one shown that it seems worth adding - Listed as “fossil” dial 18038 from 1983.
. And, agreed this should definitely be a Sticky! . . |

Go for one - You won’t be disappointed! I’d planned to get a YG one because the lapis often has gold veins in it, ... but then I fell *hard* for this WG one.

Agreed awesome. How about adding the GMT iI Meteorite dial ? They’re all rocks except one is falling from space right ?

Hi all, Hardly post in forum but these are my views:
1) Confetti Is not a stone dial but a normal brown dial which turned tropic. 2) that agate dial is after market 3) that ferrite dial is actually a moss agate dial. Moss agate or black stone (defined by Mondani) looks very similar to ferrite but with the broad black streaks. |

Any thoughts on what kind of stone this is? Bonham's simply calls it a "rare hardstone dial."

I wonder if it is a factory stone dial at all - If so, it’s the only one I’ve seen with either baton indices or a painted chapter ring, and it has both. I wonder if perhaps it’s aftermarket granite, or even just damaged paint.

Something’s wrong here ... Given that the stone itself is also unfamiliar, made-from-scratch seems most likely. (I also don’t recognize the bracelet, but it may just be one I’m not familiar with.) |
