Totally agree. VC has quite a history as well. If it’s 20+ for a Daytona or 20+ for a VC overseas, it’s no question VC in my book.

I bought a Grand Seiko quartz GMT after looking at a lot of watches. GS quartz is well done and tuned to +- 5 sec a year. It takes a lot to pull this off so it's interesting tech and high workmanship, also a lot less cost. Maybe it's safer to wear in some of the places I go. It does the job although anything other than my Explorer is a let down.

If you don’t mind the size, omega makes a 43.5 mm planet ocean with a black and white ceramic bezel (black for night, white for day), an all satin finish bracelet with omega’s adjustable link (it’s like a half glidelock), and a METAS certification. Since getting a Rolex GMT in steel is hard, I bought the omega and so far it’s only 5 seconds off reference time after nearly 2 months. Lume is excellent (it has a 600m depth rating...overkill and that makes it a bit thick vs a Rolex).

Waiting on a BLRO, meanwhile the itch struck for an IWC Big Pilot as I walked into the stores to actually see watches. Got a chance to finally see a BLRO in real life at a grey dealer and was amazed at how beautiful it actually was. The black dial against the colored bezel is pretty beautiful and the jubilee just sets it off.
Later that day I saw a Big Pilot and even my wife admitted, hmmm this one just seems to have something extra, something else....it's not prettier than the BLRO, nor is investment and all that crap people worry about on the same level. But the conical crown and leather strap against the crystal clear and simple black dial just looks...special.

As I think more and more and simplifying life, I'm liking the Big Pilot more, It was to hold me over until the day the AD angels finally saw fit to reward me whenever that is, but now I don't even think I want the BLRO at all.
A Big Pilot will be my next purchase.

Still obtainable . A friend at work went into Turd -no and they got him a Polar Exp2 4 weeks got the call .
On the used market 7500 there out there .... msrp 8100 bucks

Handled the Omega white dial chrono. The racing one with 2 sub dials. I was blown away by the finish, heft and build quality. The bracelet was way better than the oyster. See through back. Any one spending over $20,000 on a steel Daytona is doing themselves a disservice not checking this first. And I have owned a Daytona. It feels like a toy next to this Omega.

I agree. The size is a turnoff though. If they did it at 40mm i would be sold.

I could see where the size could be too much for some. But that aside, it shows how good the Rolex marketing department is. Logically speaking holding a Daytona in one hand and this Omega in the other, the Omega would be the logical choice and it’s MSRP is $3000 to $4000 less.

If they did automatics in 42mm they’d sell a lot more I reckon. The black moonphase is incredible in the flesh. Just too big for my puny wrists.

There are still sought after pieces that I could add to the collection but they're either to big or wrong color or just doesn't do it for me.

I'm waiting for my Patek. Then I'm done :)

Europe has amazing deals, and tax free. No way I'd buy it at full msrp. Although aftermarket sales isn't an issue, I'm buying to keep. You really need to be sure you like this if buying, because no matter what you're going to lose money if selling.
Very few brands have the same resale power as Rolex.
