New shoes. At what point is it time to change the strap?

I have had my 5146g for about 4 1/2 years now and keep it in a pretty good rotation wearing about a couple of times per week and generally not much in the summer time.

It finally got to the point where I knew it was time to replace the strap. Hadn’t started smelling yet but I know it probably wouldn’t be long.

I feel like this was a pretty good span to keep the strap and believe the strap life was extended by keeping it on a good rotation and wiping off sweat with baby wipes frequently.

How frequently do you guys change the strap? Anything you do to preserve the life? I will probably also get a second strap to even further rotate. This time I went from the navy blue to the dark brown.
