I've never seen so many Rolex watches...
On my way home from Europe, where I was privileged enough to watch Roger Federer win his first Roland Garros title in Paris, making history in the process, I flew into Los Angeles and spent a week in Newport with family. We did some shopping over at Fashion Island and I couldn't help but stop into a jewelry store named Traditional Jewelers when I saw the Patek Philippe marquee out in front.
At the back of the store they had a HUGE watch section, with nearly every fine luxury watch brand you could imagine. Patek Philippe, Breitling, Omega, Paneri, Cartier, Audemars Piguet, Baume & Mercier, A. Lange and Sohne, and that's only to name a few! But what struck me most was the sheer volume of Rolex timepieces they had in stock. There were, and I'm not exaggerating, eight to nine FULL cases of Rolex. And even more impressive was the variety; they had at least one of every model Rolex offered, save the "bedazzled" GMT's. They had a full stock of Datonya models in every metal, a WG and YG ceramic Sub, YG and SS GMT's, countless DateJusts and DayDates, again in all metal options, and even the full line-up Day Date II's in YG, WG, RG and Platinum. Once I got passed the two rather intimidting armed guards circulating the store, the staff was amazing. They indulged me for over an hour while I tried on what had to be at least five or six different models, ones my small AD can't get without special order. I loved the new YG ceramic Subs; trying one on gave me an impression of what the new TT ceramic Sub will look like when they finally drop. They offered to clean my SS GMT too while I tried on all these watches, along with a class of champagne to sip on, but I declined both offers. Didn't feel like taking advantage of them unless I was actually buying a watch! I'll defiantly be purchasing my next watch from this AD. They also have a store in Malibu. If anyone lives in So Cal, or will be visiting, check Traditional Jewelers out. It's something else! |
