Hi all.
I had set a finite number of watches that I would like to own. I like Rolex so it will be part of my collection. Over the years I have considered various types. I always wanted a blue dial. My regret years ago was not getting a 2-tine sub mariner when I had the chance to get one at half the price of what they go for now. At this rate it will continue to keep going up 49-60k in 5 years time Because it already doubled in 7 years. Anyway, I found a nice, weighty Citizen dial which has good water resistance (I am never going to get the watch wet so I guess it doesn’t matter). The weight and size is good. The second hand and movement is not automatic so the hand doesn’t sweep. I prefer a sweeping hand. The newer models sweep but are smaller dials at half this blue dials weight. Those feel way too light. This eco drive loses between 10-20 seconds a day, some Rolexes lose 2 seconds a day or near that. Yes it’s apples & oranges. But so is the price. To be honest with the price of 2 cars for 1 sun mariner, unless I win the lottery, It is way out of my budget for now. I took a look at other brands. Citizen appear like a more solid build for the same price range as a Seiko. One go to Tags and higher it starts going out of my budget. I so far have not seen other models with a blue dial that are appealing under $800. What do you think, should I get it,? it’s a studdering tick..pause..tick…pause..tick like a grandfather clock tick as opposed to the sweeping motion.
