A New DeepSea Timepiece in the Works??
http://www.rolexblog.blogspot.com/
DSSD fans: Have you seen this yet? I couldn't believe me eyes when I first ran across this article. In fact, thought it was some sort of joke. But no, this is Rolex's latest and newest DeepSea Challenger timepiece, which will accompany famed film maker and explorer, James Cameron, down to the deepest spot on Earth, the mysterious Mariana Trench in the South Pacific, near Guam. Their latest timepiece is, as you imagine, a TRUE MONSTER, supposedly capable of withstanding the pressures at 39,000+ feet below. Sure it's HUGE all right, with that extra thick and even larger and thicker sapphire crystal sticking out over the case and bezel top. But overall, it doesn't look too bad in terms of an everyday piece. This begs the next obvious question. Will Rolex, assuming Cameron's expedition, with the new DeepSea Challenger in tow, is a resounding success, consider mass producing and marketing this new timepiece?? All I can say is "WOW". Amazing Rolex engineering and manufacturing prowess once again. Assuming they do in fact go full production on the new Challenger, I probably wouldn't pull the trigger on it though. After all, I'm still very happy with my current big boy, the DSSD. I mean, talk about excesses in life and OVER engineered and then some!?!??! But then again, the Challenger does look mighty nice. WOW!!! And talk about iconic and instant lore and accolades after Cameron's impending successul expedition and dive. So, to this end, NEVER ever Say NEVER. Ha ha. Sure others might feel the same. Thoughts?? WOW. BEST REGARDS |
