No longer a Sub virgin

Despite steadily gathering my little collection of Rolex's, I don't hang out at TRF much (apart from lurking around in the sales corners )
My latest addition deserves a thread of it's own though. After veeeery long consideration (years!) and looking for a good opportunity, I finally have myself a Submariner
I always loved the original Sub style without the date and didn't want vintage, so the 14060/114060 is mostly what I've been looking for. I could have easily gone with a 114060 if an opportunity arose, but a chance to grab a 14060M at what I think is a good price considering it's condition came along first, so this is what I've finally ended up with. I think it could end up being a good investment to boot, as it's a random serial (does that mean it has Parachrom?), so the very last of the originals (so to speak).

In my latest bit of research (ie: staring at a million Sub pics), I've noticed something about the random 14060's. Probably it has been discussed here before, but there is a slight spacing between the 0 and the m in 300m, that wasn't on the pre-randoms, but is on the 114060 as well. Does noticing such a small detail grant me official access to the world of nutty Rolex enthusiasts?

As for what I think of the watch in general - absolutely not let down, considering the hype around this watch. If anything, now I fully understand the infatuation, as it's an incredible looking thing when you hold it in your hands or wear it. The added bonus for me is that I've achieved a perfect fit (who needs Glidelock? - well almost:-) and if feels extremely comfortable. I don't like using the word "keeper" anymore, as I've learned in my years of watch enthusiasm that no piece is truly safe from a cull (or upgrade). I must say though, that this watch is now up there with my IWC Mark XVI and Omega Railmaster as a piece I would find very hard to let go of. Especially considering how long it took me to get one!

How about some pics then?

My modest little Rolex collection...
