Cyclops Date Display Problem

Several years ago I bought a bag of "fake" watches at a county auction. One of the watches was later determined, by a reputable Rolex dealer/repairshop, to be a genuine Oyster Perpetual (Serial No. X154661). There's a problem with this watch, the date display in the cyclops doesn't advance every day. Is this a typical problem with Rolex's? Is it an expensive repair? The afore-mentioned dealer that inspected the watch and gave me the serial number saw the problem and fixed it no charge but the problem soon returned. If you've experienced this problem I'd appreciate knowing what you did.
