Rolex Tudor Dials
http://reviews.ebay.com/California-D...00000000821781
Here is a link to a tutorial on ebay regarding the "California" or Rolex dialed Tudor watch brand. He states "The "California Dial " Tudor watch in most cases has had it's dial refinished (not an uncommon practice with vintage watches) and has the ROLEX name prominently added to the face of the dial, something that wasn't there when it left the factory. To a purist, this practice has caused much debate both pro and con....." Well here is my take on the "con" by the con...it is called trademark infringement, illegal and fraud. The watch dial indicates it is a Rolex brand watch, Tudor model. It is not, never will be because Rolex never made a model called Tudor. The confusion can cause much consternation for the buyer, especially when they find out that their Tudor is not a Rolex, but a brand owned by Rolex and worth substantially less than a Rolex. Follow my next link to read about the problems one lady had with her Tudor Rolex purchase and the legal battle that ensued between the buyer and seller. It is clear that if the buyer knew what she was buying, she never would have completed the purchase. Although this did not involve a California dial, it did involve a Tudor that was misrepresented as a Rolex. Much of the info provided by the ebay tutorial, is available in reference books detailing the history of Rolex. My point here is, again, buyer beware and seller beware, especially if you have one and attempt to sell it. You could end-up refunding the purchaser, or worse, end-up with legal problems. http://www.nosalvagewatch.com/QD%20Letters.htm
