I don't understand. The watch could be valuable. It was valuable enough to someone to leave it to you in his will.
Keep the watch. Insure it. Tell the new wife it's "Hands Off", not an option to sell. If selling the watch for $$ to spend is a priority then the grandfather should have left it to someone else.
BTW if it's valuable make sure it's documented that you owned it yourself before getting married.
