What Patek is doing RIGHT with DRESS/STRAP watches

On this forum, which is known to be sports-watch-centric, there seems to be a turning of the tide, even if ever so slightly.

The “dress” watch threads are more abundant. The content and support in the “itch” threads related to strap watches are more prevalent.

What gives?

I think it’s the more modern size of Patek’s dress watches and the move away from the typical dressy straps that used to go with them.

The 5524g on calf and now often shown with the dark strap is awesome.

The 5212a on calf strap (and a few pics with it on darker straps) likewise looks fantastic.

Even the 5270p and 5370p on more “fun” straps makes these “dress” watches less dressy and more causal.

The secondary market prices of these Nautilus and Aquanauts are inline to more than some of these more horologically impressive pieces. If you can’t own them all, then it’s easy to see why “dress” / strap watches are regaining interest and many are moving out of the sports models into the strap watches again.

I’d rather wear a 5270p or 5212a than a nautilus with jeans. But that’s me.
