Am I alone??? Or crazy???
After collecting (and selling) many watches over the past few years, i had an epiphany last week. I have had the pleasure of getting my hands on some really great watches from my AD. 5711/1A, 5711R, 5990, 5164, 116500LN and a handful of other rolexes.
I've been wanting a PP "dress watch" for some time now. I was offered a 5270P, the watch that I have coveted for a while, but I could not stomach the price. I came across a 5905P (a watch that I've really liked) at a reputable grey dealer. We struck a nice deal on the 5905 and thought why not trade one of my "hot" watches. I have loved the 5711R from day 1, but found myself rarely wearing it. I decided to trade the 5711R towards the 5905 and get some cash back. If you look at the "profit margin" in the 5711R and put that towards the 5905, it's like buying the 5905 under $30k. I personally feel like the 5711R is totally overvalued and the 5905P undervalued at the price I paid. Does this make me a "flipper" or crazy? Has anyone else out there done anything similar over the past couple years? |
