Now I've seen everything....
You've heard of the movies "Snakes on a train"... or was it on a plane... ? maybe a bus.. or, is that's where the rain fell mainly... anyway, I had an "interesting" experience on a train yesterday; Rolex related of course.
I'm sitting in my seat, wearing my headphones, working, sleeping, listening to an audio book, all at the same time, when a "gentleman" taps me and points to my Daytona and asks: "Is that an Oyser?" Now, to be fair, although dressed a bit ... shall I say.. "unusual" he was very nice and courteous. "Why .. Yes it is" I reply, "I belive all the Rolex's are reffered to as Oysters, since their case is water proof and sealed- " "No no" He cuts in, "I mean the band, that's an Oyster band right?" I stated that yes it was and was about to say there is another option called a Jubilee when his smile grows from ear to ear, and he thrusts both hands forward, showing me a ring on each one. "How do you like these?" He asks, "I got the bands from the internet, and made one out of an Oyster, and one out of a Jubilee.." He was obviously very proud of what he wanted to show me. What he had, one on one finger of each hand, was a ring... a ring on one hand made out of an Oyster Bracelett, .. the other made out of a Jubilee bracelett. Now, I didn't look closely so can't be positive, but they sure looked authentic. He had somehow, (I'm not a metal worker), removed a bunch of links, welded, or soldered, or whatever, so that the bands were extremely small, only two or three links each, and made rings out of them. I can't over-emphasize the smile on his face and how proud he was to show off these creations. "Uh.. nice..." Was about all I could respond. His smile never wavered, and he walked away. Every once in a while, I feel like I accidentally walked into an episode of the Twilight Zone.... |
