What To Do During The Lockdown
Hey Guys:
I had a lot of free time these past few months, and looking at watches only goes so far... So I decided to make a reproduction Tiffany lamp! I had a base and some glass laying around in my workshop, and so I gave it a whirl... The pattern is the 20" Water Lilly and it has about 420 pieces total. First job: cut out the glass to match the patterns and put them on a lighted table to make sure they look right... Second job was to transfer the cut pieces to a waxed mold and adjust the fit of each piece. Next up was the boring job of wrapping each piece with copper foil and replacing it on the mold. Next up was the soldering of the outside foiled areas and removing the lamp from the waxed mold. Then, the inside got soldered and the lead matrix was complete. A couple of hours of smoothing out the seams and then the whole thing gets thoroughly cleaned and a patina is applied to the leaded seams... Voila! A nice lamp for the living room and time to go back to watch collecting! Life is good! ![]() ![]()
