Bring back the 16710 Mindset (rant)
Warning Rant: I know this is not in Rolex’s best interest and maybe not in your interest but I still want it to happen.
I’ve been thinking about a lot of the grey market pricing and it’s just nuts how a BLNR or BLRO is so much more expensive than an LN. or how the Cermit will be so much more expensive than a black sub. I wish Rolex would just go back to the 16710 days. For the steel GMT and Sub, dials would be all the same, and the customer could swap for any bezel configuration at a later date. This is the case for the 16710 and for this reason, in the 16710 market there isn’t a premium for Pepsi, Coke, LN because changes are possible (though getting harder but still do able). Likewise dials should be interchangeable for a reference number. As an example, 116500 owners should be able to swap. That’d crush the 5K premium for a white dial over the black. And the other benefit of this is that it would disincentive bezel fakes. If you ever wanted to buy a five digit Kermit, you know what I mean. Yes I know this is NOT in Rolex’s best interest nor in the interest of those who picked the right color bezel/dial. Rant over!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
