Warranty without the card?

If you have a watch that’s a year old but don’t have the warranty card, is it tough luck? Seems odd from a consumer law perspective that they can deny fixing a fault just because you don’t have the piece of plastic. Surely they have a register of the serial when the warranty is validated on purchase? Heck when I called called the service center in London regarding my vintage Tudor sub they could look up the service history although they couldn’t send me a copy.

So what’s the deal? Would they help? Has anyone had experience of a warranty claim without the card?
