Anyone have similar problem with DJ?

I have a 1999 16200, and although it keeps perfect time when wound, and is good for 2 days or so, the auto wind does not work either while wearing, or in a winder.
It's due for service anyway, since I purchased from original owner, who stated its been 10 or more years since service.
Just wondering if this occurs often, or it's indicative of other issues.
