Evidently it is possible. My timeline:
- Aug 28 I went into the boutique and asked for the new ROO 43mm black dial
- Sept 18 I receive a text for the blue dial titanium version and I try it on in store but hold out for the black dial.
- Sept 28 I receive a text saying to be ready this week
- Sept 29 I am told to come in the next day in the evening
- Sept 30 The watch is mine

All told less than 5 weeks from the day I first expressed interest and I am very pleasantly surprised :)
