Changing straps on a Pam 111

I have in the past owned a more modern Panerai with the rather convenient quick strap changing system, I miss that feature on my beloved Pam 111.

I have this fear that the sharp end of the strap change screwdriver will scratch the case around the lugs, or the threads will strip or wear out, or the strap pins will get undone and strap will come loose.

How are Pam 111 veterans dealing with this?

Does using the spring bar strap pins with faux screw ends offer a solution?
