new watch - Gruen Quadron

I’m really excited by this pickup.

It’s a 1930 Gruen Quadron cal. 157, 15 jewels, blued hands, and white gold filled case.

The quadron movement is historical in that it was the first rectangular-shaped movement to fit a rectangle case. Shortly after they made this movement Gruen would go on to partner with Rolex creating the Horologies d’Excellence Fabriques des Montres Rolex & Gruen Guild S.A. to jointly innovate.

Gruen would later produce the very first Bond watch, the Precision 510.

Last, Gruen was founded in my home state of Ohio in 1874 and was even headquartered in my hometown, Cincinnati.
