Hamilton is no angel. He has ruined Max’s race a few times. Not to mention Albon in 2020.

Max was the better driver in 21. Period. Last race included.

Easy argument to defend Max as I agree with his season. I don’t buy the human part though for Masi... Is it his fault, maybe not. Maybe it is the overall architecture that allowed poor decision making, in the most epic way possible. Regardless, he made the decision and has to live or die by it.

Also, let’s not talk about Max’s season, just the last 10 laps of a single Grand Prix, irrespective of the stakes.

Masi had 4 options as I see it, 1. Allow all cars to pass and end race under safety car (follow the rules), 2. no cars pass (follow the rules), 3. red flag (sort of bend the rules), 4. actual decision made to end the race (disregard the rules)…

He legit made the WORST possible decision under pressure from a rules perspective (regardless if you love or hate Max or whether or not Max deserved the title).

If he red flagged it, I would have supported it 100% (which makes me a hypocrite, but the race fair) and if he kept cars from passing, whoever won, would have won without any “asterisk” debate.

Fair or not, I do believe he had to go. Can’t risk another high stake situation in his hands given the recent growth of F1 and its integrity in question.

Edit: Hamilton could have put on new tires at the safety car, or VSC carrier, so the the result weren’t all Masi’s fault. Regardless though, just on a single decision point, he went against the rules which are pretty clear stated.
