Watch out for phishing scams to get your identity
I have a watch that I am trying to sell here. Recently I got a message from a member asking for information about my watch, but also said in the message 'I don't check messages on this Forum often, so please contact me at my email address "aboutderntime@gmail.com"'. I didn't think too much at that time and emailed this address saying the watch is still available.
Next thing I know, I received a reply to my email saying 'Please for confirmation, is this your listing? I just needed to be double sure", and a link supposedly to rolexforum.com. At that point I knew it was a scam. When hovering over the link the URL was not rolexforum.com at all. I am sure it is asking for my login IDs so it could steal my identity. If successful, they would likely use my ID to scam others on this forum. Interesting thing is that I don't see this person's message in my forum private message inbox anymore. can someone delete their own message that's sent to others, or did forum moderator banned and deleted their messages? |
