Tourist Experience in AD Florida

At both ADs in my state (will remain anonymous to protect the innocent) I’ve been on the mythical list all year. Initially, for the Sub LV, and when that hadn’t happened by October, also for the Air King.

Tuesday, (Dec 20th) while on vacation in Florida, I dropped by an AD to talk watches. In the demo case, my first in-person sighting of the AK.

The Associate was the quintessential friendly expert any business would do well to have on staff. He offered to let me try on the AK, and a Sub date. I was clear I preferred an AK.

After taking up way too much of his time, he offered to take down my name. I’d made it clear I was a tourist, with the whole family in town, and that was confirmed by my out-of-state address and phone number. But we have family in that city.

Thursday (Dec 22), the SA called. Unfortunately, I’d flown home Wednesday, but my family was still there. Yes, my wife would come pick up the AK! I missed the fitting and experience, but my family and my new AK made it home today.

Apparently, that AD has long lists for all the PM and hard-to-get models, same as everywhere else. But, perhaps less demand for the AK? For whatever reason(s), they sold me a new Rolex, without any history whatsoever.

So, after giving up on my home-state ADs calling, this tourist got an AK in two (2) days. Two (2) days before Christmas.

Next time we are in that city, I will go out of my way to show my appreciation.

Don’t give up, 2023 will be an improvement over 2022. Things are changing.
