The Masters and Dad

The Masters Tournament was me and my dad’s tournament. We always seemed to watch it together on the weekend. It was nothing planned, for some reason, I just always happened to be in Concord on those weekends from Tahoe. Dad’s been gone for over 30 years, but I always think extra about him during the Masters.

I came across this article written by someone who had the same relationship with the Masters with his dad; and it is incredibly poignant. So . . . if I were in the advice giving business, what I’d tell you is this, if your dad is still alive, call him. Don’t text him, call him. If you live close by, go see him and tell him you love him. Not because it’s the Easter Weekend, or even The Masters, but just because Father Time always wins, and you may not get another chance.

Hope is not a strategy.
