Paul, VTCGuy, I believe you may have just been hyper-sensitive in this scenario because you recently took delivery of your grail WG blue submariner.
In reality, without any attachment, this shouldn’t have mattered. Rolex folks tend to take themselves waayyy too seriously, and unfortunately I think this was a case of just that. Who knows, this guy might be a WIS just like the rest of us! How else could he have sourced a genuine blue Rolex bezel, if you take him at his word. I honestly can’t blame him. Rolex precious metal watches are overpriced even at MSRP. If his creation makes him happy, and is obviously within this spectrum of affordability, more power to him. The fact that a frankenstein WG Rolex makes you feel off is a strange and foreign reaction to me, and even comes off as a bit pretentious to be totally honest. Who knows what this guy’s situation is to warrant not buying a real *$30-40k* luxury watch! But having read and appreciated your posts over the years, I truly don’t believe that was your intent. |
