Chicago for a vacation recommendations

It's been several years since I've been, but aside from the normal security precautions to take in any big city (avoid known bad areas, maintain awareness of your surroundings, listen to your gut, etc.), I'd have no concerns returning today.

For hotels, Miracle Mile area or general Loop business district along the River. Easy walking, awesome architecture, food, etc.
