Crown Problem - should I hack?
Hi,
I wear my watches every other day so I occasionally need to manually wind them. I was looking at my watch (SD 4000) this evening when I noticed that the Rolex coronet on the crown was upside down when it usually points up. I unscrewed the crown and then turned it clockwise. It seemed to wind without any friction at all. Screwed it back and it ended up upside down again. Unscrewed and pulled the crown all the way out. Then pushed it back in and now it seems to wind with a bit more friction than before. I'm assuming that the winding mechanism has somehow got disengaged from the crown? Can it re-engage itsef or is there a fndamental problem? The watch is only 12 months old and so still covered by the Rolex warranty. Should I hack the movement and send it in to the Sydney RSC? Any help is greatly appreciated.
