NWA! My Christmas gift to myself - Patek Nautilus 3800 White Dial

Merry Christmas to all of those who celebrate, and hope everyone is having a happy holiday season.

I’ve been eyeing the Nautilus 3800 for some time. More and more, I’ve become drawn to vintage pieces, and the smaller proportions associated with them.

After a long search (these 3800’s don’t come up often, nor are they usually in great condition when they do) I came across this piece in Belgium by a private collector. Unworn condition, box and papers. I believe this was truly a diamond in the rough and a very lucky find.

Already having a trip to Paris on the books, I did what any unreasonable watch collector maddened by this hobby would do - and booked a last minute train trip to Brussels the day I arrived to go and pickup a grail.

Enter my 3800, at 37.5mm, I find the size absolutely sublime, much like its svelte thin case and bracelet. I realize these pieces may not work for those with large wrists, but for my 6.5 inch wrist I’m smitten and am frankly surprised these aren’t more discussed more often.

In the meantime, I’m glad the modern Nautilus continues to get all of the attention ::)
