16800, Submariner from 1982

Dear forum,

Happy new year to each and everyone of you, I hope this year will be full of happiness, health and of course Rolex :)

I would like to write this post regarding a beautiful Rolex Submariner reference 16800 that a close friend of mine bought in 1982. I am very familiar with what it is commonly defined as neo-vintage Rolex, but this escapes my limited knowledge.

From what I have been reading these past days the watch has what is called a Matte "Pallettoni" dial and a beautiful faded bezel (not sure if I would define it by "Ghost Bezel", but definetly has some nice fade!) As you can see in the pictures he enjoyed the watch all these years... as it should be done :)

From my point of view it is a very beautiful piece, it represents kind of a transition to the modern Rolex aesthetic placed between the previous reference 1680 and the neo-vintage 16610 (with the saphire crystal but still preserving a matte tritium dial). Also, all important elements seem quite well preserved and all original: dial, hands, case, bezel...

¿What do you think about it? ¿Is there anything you would like to point out?

Thank you for your comments and have a nice sunday!
