Newbie Submariner questions
Hi everyone,
I'm going to be turning 30 this month so thought I'd treat myself to a Rolex to mark the end of my twenties and transition into adulthood (much as it pains me to say that! :-) Anyway, I've been doing my homework and have come to the conclusion that a Submariner 16610 is the way forward - although when I went to a jewelers at the weekend I was told that this model is being replaced with a new one. The jeweler couldn't give me any specifics on when the new one was coming out or what it would look like; he seemed to think that the old one was now more expensive because it had been replaced - is that right? Anyway, does anyone have any information on this new watch? Like when it's going to be released, what it looks like etc...? Also, I've been looking at the different Submariner variations and see there are two clasps; the fliplock and the glidelock. My understanding is that you only get the glidelock on models that have two tone straps (like gold and silver or gold and steel) - is that correct or can you get the glidelock clasp on a steel 16610? Finally, I see people are talking about Submariner series X or Y or whatever. What's the difference between the different series and how do I find out more about them? Many thanks! Chris |
