Greetings from a Newbie

Hi there everyone,

I have been visiting this forum for about 7-10 days now, before signing up a few days ago.

There is a wealth of information here, I was simply dazzled.

A little background, I have been collecting watches since the early 90's (albeit a small collection). I was a little snob in the initial years, saying that I will NEVER buy a Rolex. As it was expensive and mass produced, I could not see the value in it. Incidentally, when I was living in Sydney, I bought a 70's vintage TT DJ in jubilee. The bracelet was very loose considering how old it is.

Anyway, as the years passed, slowly I was getting disappointed with my watches.

I thought that good movements should NOT have problems. In the last 1-2 years. My Zenith El Primero (calibre 410, 3-date) was getting "hanged" at around 1120pm every night, seems not to be able to "click over".

Then, my Jaeger Le Coultre Master moon, has got a "disengaged" moon phase. I did send it back when it was still under warranty when it happened. The problem has come back again.

After researching Rolex on this forum and other numerous resources, I am quite convinced now, that I am correct to shop for my next piece, and it is going to be a Rolex.

Either a traditional black sub (if I want to be tight with money) or a TT GMT II in brown dial (16713) or if I go "crazy" maybe the 116713 will sing out to me.

I have got in touch with Ohlins (a fellow forum member) and he has pointed me in the right direction. Thanks very much, Ohlins.

Anyway, let's see what happens in the next week or so.
