My new Pilot Prerea
I was searching around on fountain pen network and found that a lot of people had pretty good things to say about the Pilot Prerea. The Prerea comes in quite a few colors. Black, Yellow, Slate Gray, Royal Blue, Lime Green, Ivory, Pink and Light Blue.
The cap is a slip on style and snaps on with a smooth positive click. ![]() I chose the Medium nib but being from Japan it writes on the fine side. I can imagine the fine nib would be very sharp. ![]() The closed length is: 4.72 inches (120mm) The posted length is: 5.25 inches (136mm) The diameter is: 0.51 inches (13mm) The weight is: 0.63 ounces (18g) ![]() The nib is nice and smooth with no skipping or scratching. I am using Waterman Florida Blue ink. (I love this ink!) ![]() The Prerea is trimmed out in chromed steel with a steel nib. ![]() It takes Pilot cartridges and it also comes with a aerometric converter. ![]() The short length makes for a comfortable fit in a shirt pocket. It is not too short to write with unposted but I do prefer to post the cap for a better feel. It is lightweight but well balanced. Overall it is a very nice pen for a reasonable price. I found this one through Stationery Art a online store in Hong Kong reasonable shipping and quick service. The main reason I chose this one was for the sharp yellow color with silver trim. I was happy to find it is also a great writer. A good combination of quality and value. ![]()
