(not the synthetic version) The chamois should always remain dry and never come in contact with water; or it will loose its natural softness. Unlike cloth & fiber; natural chamois will not scratch shiny surfaces.

I just give the crystal a good lick, wipe w/ my 100% cotton t-shirt & I'm good to go.
