Removing a riveted Oyster link
I have lost some weight and my 168000 was getting pretty loose. Plus the bracelet was never centered and the watch rode on the top of my wrist.
I saw this thread and about midway down the guy removes a permanent link with two vice grips and the watch is completely centered. This is exactly what I needed to do. http://www.minus4plus6.com/bracelet.htm I called my local AD and asked if they could remove a permanent link, sure come on down. When I got there the jeweler looked at me like I had three eyes when I explained what I wanted to do. He kept telling me you can only adjust the links with the screws. I was getting no where and finally left. Am I crazy? I travel quite a lot for work and figured I could find a jewler who would do this in NYC or maybe Boston. Sh?t I might just go buy a few vice grips and do it myself. I have not posted in a while glad to be back! |
